Um, how is this possible? I was pretty sure that 98% of all people hated this woman with a passion, Democrats and Republicans alike. Ugh. I hate you Katherine Harris. Of course, the good news is, I don't think she could ever beat Nelson. I'm curious what the hardcore Conservatives on my list think of her.

Davis beat Smith for the Democratic primary for Governor. Republicanly, Crist beat Gallagher.

For the Superintendent election, Jackie Pons beat Iris Wilson. Pons will face two pretty much idiot non-partisans in the general election, so it's safe to say that he's safe. I met one of them, Patricia Sunday. Not a fan. And the other woman sounds stupid and unknowledgeable.

As for Judge, Ron Flury and John Newton are going to face off in the general election. Lisa Raleigh (who I voted for) got 28%. I'll likely be voting for Flury this time around.

Our incumbent John Marks became Mayor again, whom I have no issues with. I really could care less about County and City Commissioners, but I voted for Allan Katz (who won), a member of our synagogue. I didn't really vote for anything else, because I didn't care enough to be informed on the candidates, and didn't want to vote blindly.

The only candidate that I voted for who didn't win was Lisa Raleigh, and I pretty much knew that was going to happen.

I can't wait for the November 7 general election.

And I really hope you all voted, especially after the 30-something messages I left for friends reminding them.

Re: Katherine Harris
My guess is that no serious Republican candidate thought they had a chance against Bill Nelson, so the only people who campaigned were Harris and a couple of other fringe kooks.

She might have fixed the election...she's done it before.

Or possibly, Katherine Harris is the kind of person Florida Republicans truly want to elect to office. And that's really, really scary.

For evidence one way or the other, look to see how much support she gets from voters, and from the national GOP, in the election.

Side thought: If Nelson ends up dying in a plane crash next month, Harris could really become senator. Eww.

Re: Katherine Harris
Operation: Keep Nelson Alive has commenced.

I know she's done dishonest things in the past (illegal donations, working with a company that didn't exist or something), but fixing an election? and being allowed to run still? argh.

Re: Katherine Harris
Maybe "fixing" is too strong a term. Helped to fix? I'm talking about the 2000 Bush-Gore election, where as Florida Secretary of State, Harris distributed to counties an official list of "felons" to be barred from voting, which included thousands of people who were not convicted felons, many of whom happened to be Black.

The NAACP sued, but by the time the case was settled it was a little too late for Gore.

Harris did a bunch of other questionably partisan things in that election, but since they were all on behalf of Bush, I doubt the republicans who run the primary would complain too loudly.

Yeah, no one really likes Harris. But this is the South, and we still have a lot of stiff-collar types who think and act like that.

As for the gubenatorial race both conservative candidates were crap. You could choose between Snake-in-the-grass Christ or Taxin' Tom.

Apparently I was the first person to vote at my polling place in over an hour. In fact I had to wait to get my ballot because the lady that handed them out had her dog with her and she couldn't give me my ballot until her doggy got done fertilizing the school's lawn. =P

You don't hate politics, you hate politicians. You love politics :-P

You can always vote for the stuff you care about and not vote for anything else. I think it's awfully awesome to go to the polls, stand in line, and then hand in a blank ballot.

There were several fields on my ballot that were blank. Surely you can find atleast one reason to vote?

Brian M?

I...don't know a Brian M. I don't think.

I think there was a Bryan Mustard in my 3rd grade class, but I sincerely doubt that's who you mean.
