I miss real SCL. I miss trivial pursuit. I miss activities. I miss mandatory fun and assumed parties. I miss games. I miss drama. I miss smart people. I miss non-Greeks. I miss caring.

I think perhaps my time has come to an end.

ADDENDUM Uh, guys? Not a suicide post. I meant that my SCL time has come to an end, and anything in the above paragraph was merely a reference to SCL activities. Geez.

That could be taken to mean something horrible. You don't mean something horrible, do you?

I'm gonna assume you don't intend to kill yourself, because, you know of course, that would be really mean to Padfoot, and the rest of us would be pretty badly broken up as well. I think you're nicer (and smarter) than that.

So I'll jump to a conclusion and assume your post to mean "My life used to be really fun a couple years back, and now everything is awful."

I can't say anything about your friendship and relationship troubles. You've been through more stress and tragedy there than a year normally holds. Hopefully the new year will be better.

On more ordinary things: I think it is an under-reported truth that nothing before or after is quite as fun as college. You have the freedom of adulthood, without all the responsibility. In general, working for a living takes more effort, is less fun, and interferes far more with your social life. You don't have as much time for trivial pursuit.

Which is not to say your life is over. You can find friends and scrape out a little time to have fun with them. The people you work with seem smart, at least.

And there are compensations to maturity. You know more now. You are wiser. You can accomplish more of your dreams, if you set your mind on them. You can avoid repeating the mistakes of your adolescence. Wear Sunscreen, etc, etc, etc, insert vague big brotherly advice, etc. etc.

To sum up: You're not dead. You can work to make things better. Although life may seem pretty blah right now, don't give up.

I apppreciate your concern. I'm absolutely fine. This post was not intended to say anything about the state of my life. It was in reference to and ONLY in reference to Senior Classical League.

Ah! I was wondering what SCL stood for.

Amen to that! And working full-time while going to college doesn't count. :-) (I'm going to be doing that in three weeks...)

You must be the change you wish to see in the world.

it's not going to work. The change I wish to see exists in other people who aren't going to change, and what I want is for SCL to be how it was four years ago, which is probably neither good nor possible. I'm sure you guys will do a wonderful job with SCL this year, it's just not that much of an organization I wish to be a huge part of, when it comes to meetings/afterwards. I'll still help out where needed and attend functions, and I'll come to meetings... it's just that the group is not one that is going to have the amazing SCL parties that used to be so wonderful. I enjoy SCL still, its just not going to be a defining characteristic of myself
