Floridians, pay attention!

Primaries are September 5th. Voting is from 7 am to 7 pm. Your job is REQUIRED to let you off to go vote if you cannot do it at any other time. REQUIRED.

I'm scared that the guy McBride will win the Republican nomination and that he'll be able to beat Bill Nelson (incumbent Democrat). It's enough to make me want to vote in the Republican primary so I can vote for Katharine Harris, because she has no chance this year. Sorry, lady, we hate you. Then again, I'd take McBride over Harris anyday. I just prefer Nelson much more.

As for Gubernatorial:
I've heard some bad things about Jim Davis recently. Yes, said by his opponent, but that doesn't mean that there isn't truth behind them. I need to find out the truth before I decide to vote for him instead of Rod Smith, which was not previously a contest at all as to who would get my vote. Apparently they debated recently and I missed it, but here's the article about it.

Keep yourself informed. May the best candidates win!

And for a bit of national good news:
New stem cell technique that doesn't harm embryos

I think Bush should see this as good, but instead he's all "I won't be happy till embryos aren't involved at all." Right. Well, when he wants to generate some tissue for himself, he's going to see things a different way. I have a theory that Republican's aren't bad people, merely terribly uncompassionate. As in, they don't care about other people-- but when the issue moves to them, things change. No Republicans/Conservatives/Sean/Lauren/Karen lash out at that, please. It's just a thought.">

I remember a few years ago when scientists discovered human stem cells within baby teeth. Have we abandoned that avenue? I guess there wasn't enough to be viable.

I don't remember that, I guess I wasn't paying enough attention back then. I'm sure there are still people researching it, just no new good news or something.

Something on the radio made me think. Someone was talking about how fertilized eggs fall out of the womb and are lost ALL THE TIME. No one is calling these people or going on rescue missions. No one was trying to save all the little frozen extra embryos that sit for 15 years until they are unviable either until this research started. And it's ridiculous for Bush to call one little cell that was going to be discarded anyway (this latest finding) a potential person. It's not.

However, that doesn't mean it's right to use embryos for scientific purposes. Something about it feels wrong. I support stem cell research but I think that scientists should explore every avenue of getting them other ways, like cord blood. If embryos are the only thing that would work, that's one thing, and I could get over the wrong feeling because of how much good it could do people who are already alive, but we don't know that.

I haven't read anything to suggest that anyone but Katherine Harris is going to win the Republican primary. I have read articles suggesting that she may be pulled from the ballot after she wins and replaced (possibly by whomever loses the Republican gubernatorial primary, presumbaly Gallagher...).

first off--I LOVE WILL MCBRIDE. i will definitely be voting for him...however, i'm scared that katherine harris will beat him, and i can't stand katherine harris. will mcbride, on the other hand, supports the fairtax, and that's about the only issue that i'm concerned with right now.

as far as the whole stem cell debate--i'm all for it. HOWEVER, i do not in any way believe it should be funded by federal dollars. our federal government has gotten way too involved in everything and i'm getting really pissed. even the republicans are spending out the wazoo. stem cell research and other medical research should be funded by private organizations or donations. same with about a million other things. but anyway, this is a rant for another time...maybe it can make for my next post...eh? ;-)

yay, next post! haha.

I'm not a huge fan of fairtax, but anything, and I do mean pretty much almost ANYTHING would be better than Katherine Harris. Yuck.
(I'm still voting for Bill Nelson)
