So, at Silver Slipper, you get your own little dining area, closed curtain and all. Of course, the incredibly overpriced food doesn't even include a vegetable, and the salad looks to be straight-out-of-the-bag, but whatever. And the lamp was falling apart. But other than that, it was actually pretty cool. I guess the purpose of the "let's eat at a restaurant where we have never eaten before" is to find which ones you want to go back to. I'm going to go with "not Silver Slipper."

Do any Tallahassee people have restaurants they would like to recommend? Non-chains, preferably.

So far I can only think of one place I want to go that neither of us have been. That one will start the list. Comment, and add to it.

1. Clusters and Hops
2. Food Glorious Food Ron's been there
3. Angelo's
4. Georgio's
5. Far Easy
6. Chez Pierre
7. Cabos Tacos (breakfast)
8. Au Peche Mignon
9. There is a french place out by gilcrest school that does a great lunch.
10.Mom & Dads
11.Melissa's (in Thomasville)
12.Albert's Provence
13.Mon Père et Moi

salad comes with the meal, but they have a section entitled, "vegetables" for $7-$10 where you can add a potato or broccoli or something

I would think Albert's Provance, I think that is the restraunt that Chez Periere's chef opened up, but I am a little foggy on who is where right now.

Number 9 is number 12 and Chez Pere didn't lose their chef, they are selling out (the chef and owner are married).

Try Cabos Tacos for breakfast if they still do that.
Au Peche Mignon if you haven't been for dessert.
There is a french place out by gilcrest school that does a great lunch.
It is a bit of a drive but crystal river is great for sea food.
If it is still around Mom & Dads used to have good itallian.
If you ever get out to Thomasville there used to be a great teahouse there called Melissa's

I vote for Clusters and Hops. Perfect hole in the wall type place, and such a diverse selection of cheeses! (I think I was supposed to be impressed by the wine selection, but it's all about the cheese for me. So, as you can guess, I also like The Melting Pot.)

For lunch, you might think about Mon Père et Moi.

Albert's Provence is also nice, but I'm afraid I can't give it a current review. I had a rather traumatizing Châteauneuf du Pape experience there a couple of years ago, and I haven’t been able to bring myself to go back.

How do you feel about sushi?

I would be interested to hear more of this... my current vision, abetted by poor foreign language skills, is of you being hit on by a very drunk John Paul II.

Mon Père et Moi has fantastic quiche and salads! (I went there the other week, as the Tallahassee branch of my office is walking distance and was very happily suprised! Also, check out the card store nextdoor.)

Thanks, I'll check it out.

I'm glad to know you still visit my journal.

I don't know if you own scuba tanks now (I know you borrowed some from someone a few years ago) but I saw this post in the tallahassee community and thought of you: http://community.livejournal.com/tallahassee/521947.html?#cutid1

I still read when I can! I just found myself never posting and feeling bad about not having time for reading posts, so I removed about half my list to cut down on the guilt. I only sign on every week or two or three, so this way I don't feel like a shitty friend. Thanks for the tank link- I'm emailing the dad to see if we need any more:)
