my student just wrote me a letter!

(a piece of paper, hamburger-folded)

One side:

to: Mrs. Melissa

(picture of heart fence type thing)

You will always be in my dreams. (picture stapled to the outside of a picture me me and him that says "you are the best"

Other side:

from: Malik

Your the best.

I love you. I won't forget you.

On the inside

Dear Mrs. Melissa

I want you to know that you will always be in my dreams. I know that you are leaving on July, 2006. and can you whirt me a leater on the compter my email is malikb@comcast. So belive that you will be in my heart. an I will not forget you. love you.

That's very sweet. I think you say "thank you" and don't make any promises to email him. If he asks you, "Will you email me?" you can tell him that you will have to move on and that you will have new students to help and he will have new tutors, but that you won't forget him and that you expect to hear great things about him.

I think it's awesome that you're making such a strong connection with your students. But kids too often find it very easy to just move on....
