"But it's the middle of the night!" ("But it's the middle of the night!")

Vivi and Alan came down this weekend. it was nice to see them, and have guests in my guest room. I forgot how nice it was to have someone staying over here. If only I could study my roommates for 22 years before saying okay to living together, I might be more keen to pick and choose one. Anyway, Vivi and Alan were at Vivi's 10 year reunion much of the time (or at least, the evenings) but we got to spend a lot of the other time together. We introduced Alan to the seared feta appetizer at The Main Ingredient, in part of my quest to introduce everyone to The Best Food On The Planet.

The release party was okay-fun and a bit lame. After doing everything there was to do, I got irritable waiting for midnight so I could read my new book. I was really hoping for the HP Trivia to be awesome, but it was really easy. I did, however, get my head on straight when I missed several questions in the Chamber of Secrets trivia I got back from Sara (after she stole half of the questions from my parents game back in 2003).

After the release party ended, I got my book at 12:01 and came home to read. Vivi and Alan brought some new sort of sunflower chips that I've been yearning for since.

I finished HP around 5:20 and discussed it till around 7 with Aras. He had finished shortly after I did (though he started after as well) and luckily the two of us who read so quickly were able to discuss it, because after you finish the book, that's the first thing you want to do.

This afternoon I went to Bobby's to hang out. We just talked for several hours. It was nice to not have to talk about myself and just get to listen to what's been going on with my best friend. We rarely just get to talk, the two of us, so it was very much enjoyable, if only a bit awkward because it's so rare. Unfortunately I was insanely exhausted from my crazy weekend, so I went home around 8ish and fell asleep. Hence why I'm awake now, at 3:30 am. Other than Friday/Saturday, I can't remember the last time I was awake at this time. It almost makes me yearn for my days where I lacked responsibilities and stayed up this late every night. Except, not. Could this be me, enjoying being a grownup?

I think I'm going to try to go back to bed, or else I'm going to have some serious issues when I need to wake up in 2 1/2 hours.

Babies! (No, not mine)

My friend's unborn baby that was having problems is now in the clear. Thank freaking goodness. I'm very glad, extremely relieved, and still cried a little bit. I have no idea how I would have felt if that would have been my child.

Cohen's 1st b-day party was Saturday afternoon. I was exhausted from staying up to read Deathly Hallows, but still thought it was very important to attend, so I went for about an hour. Cohen actually let me carry him, but he was covered with water and dirt (it was an outside pool party) so I got all wet and gross. Oh well, small price to pay. I also got bitten up a whole bunch by ants. Ouch. I only hope the kids there didn't suffer the same fate. Sabrina did a great job with the decorations and such, and it was neat to be at a little kid's birthday party. It made me think back to Deborah's FOUR 1 year old parties, all of which were insane amounts of fun. Seriously.

Candi (thebohomama) should be a mommy by now, but I have no news. So, since I assume it's happened, CONGRATULATIONS, CANDI!

And speaking of babies, and of things named Candy, I am getting a new cell phone in September. I think the Samsung a990. It's ugly, but it's got a 3.2 megapixel camera. That's like three times better than my first real digital camera. It's good enough that I won't have to apologize about the quality of my pictures, and good enough that I won't feel guilty about not carrying around my actual current digital camera.
