Oy, the weekend.

Friday night:

I had intended on going to services, and then decided not to, then decided to but didn't really want to... but my decision was made for me... I spent at the hospital with a friend (the friend wasn't a patient, her dad was). I hung out for many (5?6?) hours for moral support. Sean brought her dinner, which was extremely nice of him, and we were extremely grateful.

- D'Var Torah went well. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, both what I had to say and the level of interactivity involved for the children.
- Certamen was fine. Finally got to meet the highschool-turned-college celebrity Justin Byrd, and got to talk to teacher-celebrity Craig Bebergal when I scorekept for him. Deborah's team did okay. Not wonderfully, but there was no "yet to score" situation in sight. Billie Cotterman is now the new Rickards Latin teacher. She was a senior when I was a freshman at Godby.
- Dinner and anniversary celebrations were fabulous. I've never gotten so many approving compliments/stares at my dress. I wore a red fabulous salsa-y dress, and he had a bright red tie to match. Twas fabulous. Dinner was also fabulous, and the fabulousness only continued.

-USY meeting went well, I guess. I finally figured out the right amount of food, without sixty billion pounds of leftovers. Discussions went well, we held elections, and we talked about the upcoming convention, which is unfortunately NOT on one of my Fridays off. Will wait for a better day to ask my boss about taking that Friday off, though.
-I had Deb for a little while after the party, so we went to Target to get some stuff*, and then went over to my apartment to finish decorating. None of my laundry detergent glows, man! Need to talk to Kendal about that, if I can ever reach her. We bloodied up the apartment, though, and it looks good. I cannot wait for Friday night.
-Fell asleep shortly after 6 pm, cause I'm lame. Missed Desperate Housewives completely. Woke up around 11 thinking it was already morning, and then stayed up for a little bit.. and then finally fell asleep around 1ish. With ALL that rest, you'd think I'd be able to wake up on time this morning.. which I probably could have done provided my alarm wasn't set for 'weekend time'

*Chocolate for chocolate fountain
Tide + paintbrushes for black light glowiness, which unfortunately didn'twork!
Toilet paper, because .. yeah. Don't wanna be without that.

Ron is in ICU. He was in a hit and run accident. They got the guy, he's in jail.
Ron broke his leg, messed up his foot royally, may have broken his shoulder or something, has already had surgery once, is scheduled again for surgery today, and should be fine. He's able to talk but is currently having a bunch of tests done on him. I'm going there during lunch.

From the fsu_noles community:

I am Tboneblue's dad. To those of you who know him slightly...if you heard there was a guy hit by a hit and run driver early Saturday morning by Potbellies, it was him. To those of us who know him well and love him. He is in TMH in the Neuro-ICU. It isn't as bad as it may seem. He has a seriously broken left leg which has already been operated on once, and will require at least one more operation on Monday. He has a very bad concussion, but, is recovering from that very quickly to the utter amazement of the doctor's an nurses! He is coherent, lucid, and remembers just about everything except anything about the accident, which is quite typical of an accident involving a head injury. Other than that, he just looks like he was in a pretty bad bar fight. I am sure pictures will be posted somewhere along the line by some of his closer friends. One of the things that has come out of this, that I hope everyone will take to heart. Let's all agree to amend the old saying "Friends don't let friends drive drunk." Let's all add "Friends don't let friends WALK alone drunk", as well. In my conversations with the police, it was said that it was a contributing factor. Fortunately, the police have the "perp" in custody, but, the costs to Tboneblue will be devastating financially, even though he has medical insurance. It is never paid 100% by the insurance. In addition, it is highly unlikely that the "perp" has any insurance.

I am not a poster to LJ as a rule. Please spread the word, and cross post this entry at will. If you know Tboneblue, try to stop by and see him...Monday would probably not be a good day for this, btw, as he will be in surgery most of the day. Thanks for all of your support and prayers. Oh, he seems to have lost his wallet. He last remembers having it at Bullwinkle's on Friday night. I called there, and they do not have it. If you know anyone who may have found his wallet, get it to his roomies, friends, or just reply here. Thanks again.

Tallahassee police said around 3 a.m. Saturday morning George Dunn struck Ronald Sweeney, 23*, with his car at the corner of Jefferson and Macomb, then fled the scene.

Witnesses said Sweeney was staggering in the roadway and walked out in front of the vehicle. Sweeney sustained a fractured skull and several broken bones. He was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

Police later found Dunn a short distance away. He's being held on an unrelated warrant. Police are still investigating the hit and run.

*He's actually 24.

Update on Ron:

I went to visit him, and just got back a few minutes ago. He's very bruised, his tibia and fibula (lower leg bones) are broken, his shoulder is broken and out of socket, he may or may not have a fractured skull, and his foot is broken... but he's fairly coherent, considering he's on a morphine drip. He doesn't have a phone in his room but can be reached at (850)431-1155. He's probably asleep right now.

His parents are still working in Niceville, came on Saturday, and are coming out tonight again tonight to see him. He appreciates visitors. The nurses and his parents have said that it's a miracle that he's as okay as he is.

He's had one surgery on his leg and will be having surgery on his shoulder sometime soon, but they don't know when. According to the nurses he's not scheduled for today.

He definitely won't be doing that long bike ride any time soon. He's lucky but bummed about his lack of being able to do anything. Lying in bed in the ICU is pretty much his only thing scheduled for the next week.

The hospital is a maze.

Get better, Ron!
