I love the thrill of checking my e-mail.

Blackberry stole that away from me.

Now it's more of a slower, constant thrill, but there are no surprises when I log in to a computer.

You can always do what Aaron did: disable the e-mail checking his BB.

nah, I like it too much. There are more pros than cons, I think.

or you could have a secondary email address that you use for different things that your blackberry doesn't check. That you can get excited about checking on your computer.

Work email
Personal email
"Other" personal email

I don't have my blackberry set up to do my work e-mail, thank goodness... but I don't get excited about that, either.

There's another way. Through you carrier's website, there's probably a way to set filters so you don't get ALL your email on your blackberry. I filter out things like LJ & myspace comment notices, various other specific things, that I want to wait to check until I'm home.

I may as well get it on my blackberry. If I want to reply from home, I can do it later.

it's not that I DON'T want all my messages on my blackberry, it's that I want MORE messages, and NEW ones, when I check my e-mail :)

Suit yourself. I've ended up with about 30 filters because I just don't need to be bothered with (or know I won't have time to deal with) certain types of emails when I'm out.
