Pictures from Israel!

All of the pictures can be found on facebook by clicking on the links below... but here are a few of my favorites...

From atop Masada, looking over the Dead Sea...

The Dead Sea

Bahai Gardens and the city of Haifa

Over the "Old City" in Jerusalem

Me and Will in front of the Western Wall ("Kotel")

Kissing the Kotel

Me and Will at Masada

All of us at Masada

My prayer in the Kotel

Sea of Galilee

All the Americans taking pictures of the 8 soldiers that joined us.

Will traveled to the Holy Land to... eat a Big Mac. Kosher!

Golan Heights. There are four number associated with this area.
1... 17,000... 18,000....35,000

17,000 Druze
18,000 Jews
35,000 cows

Tel Aviv

Independence Hall in Tel Aviv, where Israel was declared on May 14, 1948

Chag Sameach! This was baffling to me. Jaffa is a Christian city, but it's so weird to me because Hebrew is something I associate with Judaism...

I know, right!! To be fair I only posted pictures of the pretty things here. There were some areas that were much less attractive.

Yes, it was so amazing. The view of Masada in the picture does not even begin to capture how beautiful it was.

Will is my cousin. Well, my mom and his dad are cousins. So he's my first cousin once removed or second cousin or something.

Yeah... I've got pictures with other poeple too, but he's the one who I specifically went with and who I figured other people on my list (or at least my family) would enjoy seeing me with.

Let's go climb Masada again...

Great pictures:) I like the first one with you on Masada and the Dead Sea in the background. Did you get to swim in the Dead Sea?
Jan. 11th, 2008 07:26 pm (UTC)
heck yeah I did! and I got to cover myself with mud, and fall down a mud hole, and scrape my leg up pretty badly, and go BACK in the dead sea with all the stinging salt :)

the pictures aren't on my camera, they're on someone elses, but they'll be up soon!

The first time I was there, I made a mistake that turned out to be a blessing. By the time our group hit the Dead Sea, I'd gotten some "athlete's foot" between a couple of toes. When I stepped into the water, there was an instant of searing pain... and then no trouble there for the rest of the trip! The intense saline content had chemically cauterized it! :-)

Looks like you're having quite a great time. I still have the pics from my first Israel trip back in '77, but they're in a couple of slide carousels. I ought to look up one of the services that'll digitize them.

I'll dig through all of your photos sooner or later, but I can already tell there's a number of things you saw that we didn't. I look forward to seeing the rest of the photos!
