While I was talking to my dad about the digital camera, he also brought up the $6000 worth of teeth straightening that I asked for. Of course, I asked for it out of sheer cheek. I explained to him about Invisalign, and he wants me to get *actual* braces, which... I don't think I'm up for. I think I'd rather keep my crooked teeth than be a 23 year old with braces (no offense to any out there). Invisalign is much much more expensive (about $6000 total of which there has to be $3000 down, and insurance covers NONE of it). I don't think I'd be able to afford even half of Invisalign, but I don't think its my parents job to pay for teeth straightening at ALL at this point, and I don't want them to have to.

Unless you're suffering pain or severe social anxiety* from having crooked teeth, I'd put an available $6000 into investing for retirement, or paying tuition, or paying off debt. Or even just relaxing and having fun.

*You're beautiful. You've got guys chasing you. You have friends who couldn't care less about your teeth. Is it really a big deal?

I just want straight teeth. I'm not saying it's worth $6000 that could potentially pay for other things.

Boys have nothing to do with it. Friends have nothing to do with it. This is about me!

I've seen 30 and 40 year olds with braces.

When I was about 12-14 I asked my mom for braces because I lost my last baby tooth when I was 12.

My only really crooked teeth are on the bottom of my mouth, so you don't readily see them anyway.
