I need to write to the Traffic Doctor.* This happened to me a few days ago, and it happened again today. I was waiting to turn left onto Fred George Road from Old Bainbridge. I was in the left turn lane**, exactly where I should be. A bus was driving on Fred George needing to turn right onto Old Bainbridge. The buses... have no room to get through. So bus driver guy honks at me and basically keeps honking until he knows he has enough room to drive, forcing me out into the intersection. Very dangerous and unsafe and I HATE it.

** There's actually no left turn light, which is very annoying, because there's always lots of traffic coming from the other way. I generally end up sneaking over just as it's about to turn red.

I called Comcast a few days ago when I couldn't get online. Chick asked what was wrong, I said I couldn't connect to the internet. She said, "What happens when you open it?"

I don't think it's a shitty driver. I mean, it's hard to not be mad at the bus driver, because he was the one honking at me. The issue is really the narrowness of Old Bainbridge and the issue that buses have to make such wide right-hand turns.

Definitely Fred George. And it existed before Harry Potter :)

I think it went out of existence a while ago but I could be wrong.

the google search for 'traffic doctor tallahassee' agrees with you. Apparently it doesn't exist, for quite awhile now. I think this means I'm supposed to read the paper more.

maybe. but the paper has gone downhill under its new ownership.
Nov. 1st, 2007 07:17 pm (UTC)
the paper was never... up the hill.
Nov. 1st, 2007 07:20 pm (UTC)
it is. if you're standing on the railroad tracks.

I am all sorts of confused.

The offices of the Tallahassee Democrat are uphill from you if you're standing on the railroad tracks that are parallel to Mahan/Tennessee.
Nov. 1st, 2007 08:47 pm (UTC)
see, I can't even imagine these alleged railroad tracks. Like, at all.

They're on google maps.

Bigger question: Why the Hell are you doing making a left on Fred George from Old Bainbridge in the morning?
Nov. 1st, 2007 12:33 pm (UTC)
its how I get to work :(
Nov. 1st, 2007 01:12 pm (UTC)
you go to work WEIRD.
Nov. 1st, 2007 01:15 pm (UTC)
how should I go?
Nov. 1st, 2007 01:18 pm (UTC)
Well, don't you work, like out off of Commonwealth? Well, I guess if you go up to Mission from Fred George, that's cool... Is that how you go?

Ahh, well, that's okay then.

Here in California, you MUST pull out into the intersection if you want to make a left turn. If there's no left turn arrow light, you never get a chance to go until the light's red, and this way, 3 other cars behind you can go also.

Couple of things...

I'm angry that the traffic doctor no longer exists. I was planning on writing him about several things, and now I can't.

Next time, flip the driver off. You can't go past the line if the light is red without breaking the law, and it's not your fault that he can't turn. It's also not OB's fault. He needs to be a)kinder and more understanding and b)the leon county bus system needs to figure out better routes that don't endanger other drivers. If your light is green and you pass that line, however, you can turn legally and not have run the red light. Once you pass that line, you've made the green light, whether you go far past the line or not.

And...I think that turning that way, at that time of the morning is difficult/impossible anyway, so it might be a good idea to find an alternate route. Something that takes you straight down Hartsfield or similar. Maybe take a right on Monroe, go down to Stone or whatever that road is, take a right on that and then a left where there's a light at stone and OB then hop on Hartsfield and just ride it down. It might prove easier/less dangerous, and probably has less bus traffic.

But that's just what I think. So it doesn't really matter.

I'm not flipping off a school bus driver who is just trying to do his job.

Normally it's not a problem, it's just been twice recently that this happened and it made me mad.

Of course your opinion matters. Dork.
