Peeves broke the vanishing cabinet in CoS. Nearly Headless Nick persuaded him to crash into it to distract Filch from punishing Harry.

I never noticed that before.

yep yep. I just never realized that we had met the vanishing cabinet before, but it's definitely an issue later!

I don't even remember the vanishing cabinet right now. Obviously its time to re-read! I'm planning on reading Order of the Phoenix during my flights to and from Arizona in a couple weeks. I'll probably follow that up with the most recent book, in preparation for the new book.

Oy. I'm so torn. I'm excited about the new book, but I don't want it to be over!!

Montague gets stuck in it in OotP, but the vanishing cabinet is most prominent in HBP-- Draco got it fixed, and its how the death eaters got into the building .The other cabinet is in Borgin and Burkes, and they used it as a passage way between the shop and the school.

I don't want it to be over either, but I'm assuming there will always be new things to theorize. There's no way she can possibly clear up all of my questions in just one book.

Wow... Definitely time to read again. I've only read OotP 1 and 1/2 times (read halfway through and someone ruined the ending for me - had to start over later) and HBP once in 12 hours after it was released so that no one could ruin it for me. I obviously don't remember it well now. LOL.
