LJ Idol post 0 - Introduction

Quick introduction, as I really should be doing homework:

2nd Year LJ Idol Participant. I did pretty okay last year, but became so engulfed in school and work that I wasn't able to keep on cranking out the entries.

So, for you, LJ Idol, I quit my job.

I'm kidding, I didn't do it for you.

I did however quit my job this past May, and am currently back in school full time. I like to think of myself as an "older" student (such students tend to perform better in their classes), but I'm only 24, and I tend to look younger, so that doesn't work so well from a professor's perspective.

I also have a house, a boyfriend, a dog, a great friends circle (many of them currently pregnant and shaped like circles), and overall-- a pretty awesome life.

Enter flaws: Anxiety. I have this nice mix of perfectionism plus not being perfect. If you can't relate, you're probably not human. I guess if this is what makes you human, I must be superhuman.

Other flaws? Hm.. I have a few chicken pox scars on my forehead from 6th grade. I don't think I have any other flaws.

Strengths: humble

Nope. Compliments of my little sisters preschool. At least me and my best friend had them together

If you had quit your job for LJ Idol you'd get all those sympathy votes.

Oh wait, that's American Idol.

What if my husband just died in a plane crash and I have six children and three of them have chronic illnesses?

"I have this nice mix of perfectionism plus not being perfect."

Oh man. Yeah.

I blame my ever-present sense of guilt on the fact I went to a Catholic university for grad school. ;)

Does Jewish mom trump Catholic grad school?

I feel you on getting engulfed with things last season. I was in the midst of a full time job and school. The 1st season I played I was working, going to school, planning a wedding and a convention.

Best of luck to you this season!

Your icon is awesome! I always look younger as well. Such is life.

"...a great friends circle (many of them currently pregnant and shaped like circles)..."

Haha, I appreciated this.

We shouldn't complain about looking young, I suppose :)

I've been there. It's fun to freak people out when they realize how old you are. Good luck, hope this year isn't as crazy as last.

I know how you feel about the perfectionism but not being perfect. I'm the same way about cleaning... I dispise dirt, clutter, flith with a passion... it makes me very squidgy. But on the other hand, I LOATH repetition. You know that whole doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. What was it that they said about the definition of insanity... hmmmm?

Welcome and good luck!

I'm on my way to becoming an "adult student" myself! I'll be 24 when I enroll in my first community school because I had completely trashed my GPA the year after graduating high school, but I hope to graduate with a degree in something within the next 4 or 5 years! High fives to us! :D

No other flaws? Dang! That's a pretty stellar record, then! My list of flaws... well, a couple pages, easy. XD

I've been in school pretty much this whole time (just not full time), and admire you all the much more for going straight in as a 24 year old. Good luck with school! And good luck in the contest!

I got chicken pox in grade 1, and my sister got it in kindergarten. While mother was carrying me, in the first trimester, she developed German Measles. Now, I have congenital rubella syndrome.... She loves me no matter what. Oddly, she has a nursing background and is usually up on shots, but doesn't remember if she got the MMR or not back then LOL!

Quitting your job for Idol? Nice. I admire the dedication. ;-)

As somebody who was also an "older" student, I agree with you... we perform better in classes. :-)

Nice to "meet" somebody superhuman with such limited flaws! I am humbled by your presence. :-p

Looking forward to reading more of your work!!!!

Ah, yes, people tend to have to hold on to sturdy things in all of my awe ;)

I went to college right after high school, did TERRIBLY. Dropped out after two years, took two and a half years off, and came back as a grownup.
